2018 CRITICAL WATER YEAR NOTICE AND OUTDOOR WATERING SCHEDULE

Due to snowpack levels and conservation needs, the Town is issuing a Stage Two Water Shortage Warning and may issue a Stage Three Water Shortage Notice to its residents and water customers. With the current Upper Eagle River Basin capacity, the Town of Eagle Municipal Code Sections 12.07.040 - 12.07.070 defines water shortages and requires mandatory restrictions.

The Town staff will be monitoring the Brush Creek stream flow at the Upper Brush Creek diversion as well as at the Love White Ditch to keep flow at appropriate levels. Stream flows, creek health and water plant capacity will be major factors in determining our restriction level. Notification will occur in the newspaper, community email, our website and social media sites.

STAGE TWO IN EFFECT: Prohibition on Water Waste refers to the following:

No customer or water user shall waste any water supplied through the distribution system of the Town’s municipal water utility. The following uses are prohibited at all times:

  • The watering of grass, lawns, ground cover, shrubbery, trees, and open ground, in a manner or to an extent which allows on-site ponding or visible flow leaving the area being irrigated.
  • Allowing water to run off private property and flow into public rights-of-way or storm water drainage systems
  • The escape of water through breaks or leaks within the customer’s plumbing or distribution system is prohibited.
  • The watering of grass, lawns, ground cover, shrubbery, trees, and open ground within any portion of the water utility’s service area, whether or not potable or non-potable water is used, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, except where a water conserving irrigation practice such as drip irrigation is used to minimize evaporation losses.  New landscaping is exempt
  • ODD numbered addresses shall be allowed to water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
  • EVEN numbered addresses shall be allowed to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • Schools, parks and industrial sites shall be allowed to water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

STAGE THREE POTENTIAL: Stage Three Water Shortages – Critical Year Conditions Restrictions

  • All washing of pavement, driveways, sidewalks, etc. shall be prohibited.

Landscape watering days within the Town shall be reduced from three (3) days per week to two (2):

  • ODD numbered addresses shall be allowed to water on Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • EVEN numbered addresses shall be allowed to water on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
