[ARCHIVED] Dogs Required to be Leashed on Eagle Ranch Golf Course

Dogs Required to be Leashed on Eagle Ranch Golf Course

Responding to recent concerns expressed by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Eagle Police Department, Eagle County Animal Services and community members regarding interactions between off-leash dogs and wildlife, the Eagle Town Council amended Section 8.12, “Animal Control,” of the Town Municipal Code at its Tuesday, Feb. 13 meeting. The amendments address leash law inconsistencies with a primary focus on “common ground” and “premises” within Eagle, particularly the Eagle Ranch Golf Course.

The refined regulations now mandate that dogs must always be leashed on the Eagle Ranch Golf Course. Additionally, revisions eliminated the phrase “expressly permitted” from the code.

While these amendments serve to clarify discrepancies in the Animal Control section of the code, the town council is committed to further refinement of the code, which will be discussed during future work sessions and meetings.

The town contracts Eagle County Animal Services to educate community members about leash law compliance and enforce the leash law. The town maintains a designated off-leash area at its dog park, which is in the fenced area located adjacent to Sylvan Lake Road, near the intersection of Lime Park Drive.
