[ARCHIVED] Eagle Hires New Police Chief

Chief Carrie

Eagle Town Manager Larry Pardee announced that Carrie Buhlman will lead the Eagle Police Department as its new Chief of Police. Buhlman, who has been serving as interim police chief since December 2023, will be officially sworn into her new role at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at the Eagle Town Hall.

Buhlman began serving in the Eagle Police Department in May 2015. Before her interim police chief position, she held the positions of sergeant and lieutenant. Buhlman holds a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement from Minnesota State University.

“After a thorough evaluation process, Carrie emerged as the ideal candidate due to her deep understanding of the Eagle Police Department, strong ties to the community, and exceptional leadership qualities,” Pardee said. “Her reputation among peers and within the community speaks volumes and I am confident in her ability to excel in this new role.”

To ensure a wide candidate pool, the town engaged SGR Associates for a nationwide search to fill the vacancy left by Derek Bos, who assumed the chief of police position in Juneau, Alaska in December 2023. The town received 22 applications, from which four finalists were chosen for the community meet-and-greet session and final interviews.

As Chief of Police, Buhlman will oversee a team of 18 full-time employees, including a lieutenant, police sergeants, police officers, a school resource officer, a detective, a code enforcement officer and records-information technicians.

“I’m honored to accept this role and the responsibilities that go along with being Eagle’s next police chief,” Buhlman said. “With 17 years of law enforcement experience in rural mountain communities, including nine years with Eagle PD, I bring a wealth of knowledge, leadership and dedication to the table and our community. I am excited about the opportunity to lead the Eagle Police Department into its next chapter.”
