Peyton Heitzman has been named the town of Eagle’s Community Development Director. Heitzman fills the position held by interim director Cliff Simonton who has held the role since December 4, 2023.
Heitzman began her career with the town of Eagle as a Planner I in 2020, was promoted to Planner II in 2022 and to Planner III in October 2023. She was accredited by the American Institute of Certified Planners in June 2024, which requires planners to pass a 100-question exam and showcase experience through an assessment to demonstrate the highest level of education, breadth of knowledge, ethical practice and commitment to the planning profession. AICP planners are considered the highest standard for ethical practice.
“Peyton is a true leader and a high performer,” Eagle Town Manager Larry Pardee said. “We have full confidence in her ability to excel as our community development director and contribute to the growth and success of our team while serving the Eagle community.”
Heitzman was among 17 candidates for the position and went through an extensive interview process with the town’s senior management. Simonton will continue to work with Heitzman as he transitions into retirement.
“I am thrilled to serve the community in this new role and look forward to continuing to work with the dedicated individuals in the Community Development Department and organization at large,” Heitzman said. “I know my experience with the town and understanding of the community will contribute to a smooth transition for the department.”
As community development director, Heitzman will lead the building and community development team while continuing to be responsible for current and long-range planning. She will play a critical role in serving as an advisor to the town manager, elected officials and volunteer boards and commissions.
