The town of Eagle Open Space and Trails Department will close the berm descent section of the Haymaker Trail for maintenance from July 22-29. A map of the trail closure is available here.
During this period, large machinery will be on-site and users are asked to avoid the area by using the detour onto the Pool and Ice Trail. All other areas of the Haymaker Trail will remain open during construction.
The new rerouted sections aim to maintain the trail’s sustainability achieved during the 2023 trail work while removing some large grade reversals and replacing them with additional berm turns. Additionally, the town is considering replacing the wood berm feature with a dirt turn due to concerns about the structural stability of the feature. The modifications will enable the Colorado High School League (Colorado League) to resume racing on this section of the trail in September, which they have not been able to use since 2022. The trail was originally designed to meet the specific needs of the Colorado League, which has been racing in Eagle for over 10 years.
